NEA Adjudicators' Forum 2017

The NEA strives to use only the best adjudicators; those who are qualified, reliable, educators-at-heart and who embrace the NEA's values of passion and compassion, integrity and credibility, inclusiveness, respect for the unique disposition and potential of each participants and awareness of and pride in our multi-cultural diversity.

Adjudicating a performance and providing constructive feedback is the real moment of truth that defines the legitimacy and developmental value of the Eisteddfod programme. Because of the subjective nature of adjudication, the NEA annually presents an one-day Adjudicators’ Seminar that provides an important platform for discussion and debate, as well as the training of inexperienced adjudicators.

NEA ADJUDICATORS FORUM SEMINAR 2017

The NEA will present the annual Seminar on 29 July at Reddam House Helderkruin.

Attendance of this Seminar is a prerequisite for any aspiring NEA adjudicator. The attendance of 3 seminars and the adjudication of NEA events over 3 successive years are required to qualify as a Senior Accredited NEA Adjudicator.

In its quest for excellence in adjudication the NEA has established clear guidelines regarding the expected levels of performance and has defined a style of adjudication that acknowledges individual achievement and emphasises the joy of participation in the arts. Adjudication deals with human beings and their feelings and an insensitive adjudicator can kill underlying potential and future interest in the arts. Adjudication in the arts is therefore not only an evaluation of a performance,
but also the art of sensing possibility.

The purpose of this seminar is therefore not to provide in-depth training in any art discipline. The NEA is also critically aware of the fact that it is impossible to "teach" the art of adjudication in one day. The introduction of "brand alignment" in the adjudication process at the 2016 Seminar was a game changer. This concept will be further introduced and unpacked at the upcoming seminar.

To register your attendance of this Seminar, you can complete the registration form ONLINE now.
Please note that ONLINE registration for the Seminar will ONLY be accepted until 26 JULY.
